The prime numbers are the irreducible integers — the numbers that cannot be composed from any lesser factors, each one a fresh instance of the One. Where the composites are assembled multiplicity, the primes are the monadic forms.
One might expect the primes above ten — 11, 13, 17, 19, 23 — to grow increasingly negative. Eleven (disorder) and thirteen (rebellion) seem to confirm it. But seventeen breaks the pattern: it is the number of victory, one of the most luminous in all of Scripture. The descent is disproved at a single decisive point.
The law that actually governs the series is not magnitude but distance from the numbers of order — ten, twelve, twenty-four. A prime is shadowed when it falls just short of or just past a completion (11 = 12−1, 13 = 12+1, 19 = 20−1, 23 = 24−1), and luminous when it is itself built of completions: 17 = 10 + 7, divine order joined to perfection. The primes are not darkening; they are irreducible remainders, each colored by its nearness to the orders it both completes and resists.
The composites are the assembled numbers — each a product of priors, each reducible to the primes from which it is built. The primes are what they are made of and what they cannot be reduced past: the multiplicative atoms, the irreducible sources, the places where the number line cannot be factored and the One re-asserts itself. Primality is the arithmetic image of the axiom that nothing can limit the One but itself.
